I'm not sure what to do now as I don't want to erase my HD before I have a solution. NeatReceipts Mobile Document Scanner and Digital Filing System for PC and Mac (Renewed). I'm assuming my only option is to now do a clean install, however, when I go to the Internet it won't let me open the App Store, so I can't download a fresh copy onto an external drive.
I read and tried several of the 'fixes' from Apple Support Community but nothing seems to work. I was able to do a full backup of my hard drive to an external from Disk Utility. When I restart in Recovery Mode everything appears to be the new El Cap interface. Everything downloaded and install went through all the way to the end and I get a huge error log in the background and it says something generic like 'El Capitan cannot be installed.' It then asks if I want to reinstall El Capitan which I've tried several times with the same result. With a visit to the command line of Mac OS, you can turn off the power on. Which according to Apple should still support the update. In a support document, Apple details some of the steps that users can try to. I've tried to download and install El Capitan on my Early 2008 MacBookPro.
